Field Trial of Avian Influenza Vaccine in Layer Chicken

H9N2 is the most common subtype of influenza viruses in chicken and causes great economic loss for the poultry industry. Human infections with avian influenza virus revealed that H9N2 is the gene donor for H7N9 and H10N8 viruses that are infecting humans too.

Avian Influenza vaccine develops strong and long-lasting antibody against Avian Influenza virus type A, subtype H9N2 in chicken, duck and turkey. Each dose of the vaccine contains 100 micrograms of inactivated oil-based Avian Influenza virus type A, subtype H5N2.

A field trial to determine potency and efficacy of this vaccine in layer chicken was carried out by CRO Ltd. The subjects were divided into two groups. One group was vaccinated with investigational vaccine and the other group was control.

Sponsor of this field trial was FnF Pharmaceutical Ltd. The trial was inspected by Directorate General of Drug Administration, Bangladesh. It is now commercialized in Bangladesh as Bangla Avianza Vac H9 and is indicated to develop immunity against Avian Influenza virus type A, subtype H9N2 in healthy layer, layer breeder and broiler breeder.
